Mon, Mar 16, 2009

Cowboys & Dragons top off today's column. Read on for more fun facts!

Greetings Fellow Music lovers! Welcome to this Monday edition of This Day In Rock.

For our first fact we travel back to 1955 when all the young boys Loved playing Cowboys & Indians! I am sure this is why “The Ballad Of Davy Crockett Climbed to #1 on the  charts. The song stayed there for five whole weeks!

Now for a bit of controversy. On this day in 1963 Puff the Magic Dragon Was Released. Although I wasn’t born when this was released the movie was one of my childhood favorites. The song written by Peter Paul & Mary was written about a young boy growing up. It was banned by some radio stations because they believed it was about doing drugs.

Lets move on all the way to 1979. The Palladium sold out to a metal Band who wasn’t even signed! In case you don’t already know it was Twisted Sister! I’ll be back tommorw to serve up some St Patty’s day surprises. Until then, Rock on! \m/
