   8. The act of stopping or the condition of being stopped.

As you can see, there are many different definitions for the word arrested, and the word can be used to surmise several of todays facts as we take a look at what happened on March 10th in the realm of music.  But before we look at those arrested developments, let's tak a look at the birthday calendar, the R&R Hall of Fame, and an album worth taking a peek at.

One of the world's greatest classic rock bands, and as when I use statements like that, it is my personal opinion, is Boston.  Their album Third Stage blew many a speaker in my house, as the track The Launch would shake every window in the house as it played.  This was of course from vynal because, as to quote Nicholas Cage in the movie The Rock, "they sound better".  OR becuase we had it on vynal and not on either cassette or CD....maybe both..lol.  In 1947, Boston's Tom Scholz (guitar and keyboards) was born and turns 62 today.

2003's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame showed some interesting inductor/inductee pairs.  The Police were inducted by No Doubt's Gwen Stefani , Steven Tyler of Aerosmith inducted AC/DC, the surviving members of The Clash by Audioslave guitarist Tom Morello, Elton John incucted Elvis Costello and Billy Joel gave tribute to The Righteous Brothers.

Alanis Morissette caught America's attention when she released her album Little Jagged Pill.  In 1996, at the 25th Juno Awards in Hamilton Canada, the Canadian singer won awards for Best Album, Best Female Singer, Best Rock Album, Best Songwriter and Best Single.

Now, to get back to those arrested developments mentioned earlier.

In 2002, Puddle of Mudd singer, Wes Scantlin and  his fiance, Michelle Rubin were arrested for investigation of domestic violence.  The couple was booked at the Venture country jail in Fillmore, California, and would each be released on $20,000 bond.

In 2003, a lock of late Beatle George Harrison was bought by a Spanish hairdresser, who paid over $1000 for the guitarist's hair, which would be displayed at Rafael Pages’ Hairdressing Museum in Barcelona.

In 2004, Dave Blood, bassist for the band The Dead Milkmen commited suicide.  The incident was reported in a post by his sister Kathy on the band's official message board, and would be confirmed by the band's drummer, Dean Clean.

In wrapping up today's This Day In Rock, I just want to throw out the reminder that TODAY, on March 10th, LA band Carbon 9's 3rd CD, The Bull is being released, so be sure to go out and pick up a copy of that, as it is an amazing piece of work, and you can check out a review about the CD here at roadcrewmag.com, just look for it under the reviews section.  Have a great one!
