November 2009, This Day In Rock
This Day In Rock, Tuesday, November 10th
Happy Tuesday Peeps! Guess what happened November 10th in This Day In Rock!
Greg Allman celebrates a birthday! What does every thirteen year old boy want for his birthday? No, not a girlfriend...a guitar! And that is what Greg got. However, his brother Duane was the one who showed extreme talent with the instrument so Greg moved onto the keyboards. All this happened in the year 1960.
DJ Ashba of Sixx AM, Beautiful Creatures, and now Guns & Roses also celebrates a birthday today. Happy Birthday to you both!
One of the most famous songs by the Moody Blues was released this day 1967..."Nights in White Satin."
1969 and "Led Zeppelin II" is certified Gold.
Move on up to the year 1975. Years ahead of their time, Queen films a video for the song, “Bohemian Rhapsody.” The song sores to #1 in the UK. Of course it does! It's Queen!
The Clash ( another unbelievable UK band) release their first US record, "Give Em Enough Rope." It is their second record for the UK. This was done this day in 1978.
The number one song today in 1979? I was 9 years old by the way and sang this song word for word driving in my mom's gas guzzling Chevy Malibu..... "Heartache Tonight" by the Eagles.
Ahhh, Axl. Now don't ask Axl who. What other Axl is there? Especially one who caused a concert riot in 1991? Yes the one and only Axl Rose of Guns and Roses. Well, he as found guilty of the crime but got probation and had to donate money to charity, this day 1992.
1993 John Mellencamp's album "Human Wheels" was certified Platinum.
Polar Express is released. What does this have to do with this day in rock? Well Steven Tyler plays an animated elf in the film and sang vocals on "Rockin Around The World." This day 2004. Go Steven!
A problem still affecting our world TODAY: Darfur. Let us not forget the people there. In 2007, Rock For Darfur took place, featuring: Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, Seether, Puddle of Mudd, Saliva, and Megadeth. Thank you to those bands.
