February 2009, This Day In Rock
Say What???
Good Friday the 27th to you all. I hope your week has been a great one as we wrap up the final edition of This Day In Rock for the month of February. And I hope that your weekend is awesome as we get ready to lunch into March. I do want to publicly wish my oldest son a happy 16th birthday as we will be celebrating his tomorrow. I keep telling myself, I'm NOT old enough to have a 16 year old. So, Matthias, I hope that your birthday is all you are hoping it will be. I know that it will without a doubt be rockin as he's getting a new iPod.
And now, on to February 27th.....enjoy!
Today's birthday boy is from the awesome, one of a kind, Iron Maiden. Guitarist Adrian Smith celebrates his 52nd birthday today.
Looking at 1970, Jefferson Airplane played Oklahoma City. And was then fined $1,000 for onstage profanity.......umm, ok...yep, sounds like a stupid Oklahoma law to me....(and I can get away from with saying this because I live here....)
In 1977, Stones guitarist Keith Richards was arrested by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police while staying at Toronto's Harbour Castle Hotel on the charges of heroin and cocaine possession. His bail was set at $25,000.
Our last 3 facts all stem from the year 2008. So, allow me to pick them at random and fill you in on the busy February 27th, for '08.
iTunes sold their 4 BILLIONTH song, becoming the 2nd largest music dealer behind Wal-Mart.
Scheduled to make an appearance at the Rocklahoma press conference to be held on March 4th at the Whiskey A Go-Go, were Bret Michaels and Warrant, who had reunited with singer Jani Lane.
And finally, Korn lead singer Jonathan Davis, while on tour in Lisbon, Portugal, took a break to log on to XBox Live to play Halo 3 and game with members and fans.
Well, there it is. Thank you for spending your February with me on our daily trek through music history. I look forward to diving into the month of March. Have a rockin weekend!
