Saxon Always Delivers The Metal

Tue, Feb 10, 2009

Into the Labyrinth is the newest release from one of the best heavy metal bands to ever come out of the 80's...

Saxon Always Delivers The Metal

Maybe it is just me but, somewhere along the line I think a lot of bands forgot what metal is supposed to sound like. Please don't get your torches and pitchforks out yet. Because with too much experimentation comes a loss of the core of what truly makes metal unique. Saxon has never lost that gift. Those elements come together and shine in the perfect classic heavy metal album: "Into the Labyrinth."

Whether you are a long time fan of Saxon since the 80's or just love heavy metal, you will enjoy this kick ass album. The CD starts off with "Battalions Of Steel" and it is a monster of a song with exultant choruses and stunning vocals by Biff Byford. The guitar work is amazing on "Come Rock Of Ages" and "Demon Sweeney Todd." The rest of the CD is pure heavy metal excellence and will not disappoint even the most die hard of metal heads.

When you grow up with a band whose songs hold a timeless meaning to you sometimes it is hard to want to grow past those songs of your youth. I mean who doesn't want to re-visit those care free days and those songs that bring you back there? However, Saxon's songs and albums are consistently rock hard. While we can listen to Saxon with a sense of nostalgia we also count on them to always produce a great modern metal album. "Into The Labyrinth" can be added to that list!
