A look back at February 23rd

A Look Back at February 23rd

I hope that your weekend has been a great one.  It feels like forever since I sat to write up an article for our daily get together, but Monday is upon us and we find ourselves together once again. Today's look at February 23rd is a short trip down memory lane, but one that I think will be memorable for you.

In 1970, making his first but not last solo TV appearance, Ringo Starr guest starred on Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In.

He would go on to star in the hit children's TV show Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends as Mr. Conductor.

1978 heralded the 20th annual Grammy awards.  Winning Record of the Year was The Eagles for Hotel California.  They also won for Best Arrangement for the vocals for New Kid in TownFleetwood Mac's Rumors took Album of the Year, and Love Theme from A Star is Born by Paul Williams and Barbra Streisand and You Light Up My Life by Joe Brooks tied for Song of the Year.

Taking a colossal leap into 2004 finds that Wes Scantlin of Puddle of Mudd was arrested in Toledo, Ohio for disorderly conduct. After four songs into their show, he said he was canceling it and claimed that he was too messed up to perform. Afterward he remained on stage for about 30 minutes yelling profanity at the crowd.

In 2006, at a Rolling Stones concert in Buenos Aries, police had to use rubber bullets and tear gas to control a crowd of ticketless fans who tried to gatecrash the concert.  20 people were injured during the incident.

Well, there it is for today.  I hope that your February 23rd is a memorable one!  Until tomorrow.....
