2 Birthdays, Name Changes, A number one single AND another lawsuit on this day in rock

Let's waste no time today and get right to it, shall we?  And what better place to start than with a couple of birthdays?  Denmark singer Mike Tramp of White Lion was born turns 48 today and Dave Grohl first of Nirvana and now of the Foo Fighters turns 40.  A very big rockin happy birthday to them!!

Have you ever thought about why musician's chose the stage names they did?  I love finding out the stories behind them, and I have one to share with you today.  In 1966, David Bowie, whose birth name is David Jones changes his so that he would now be confused with the Monkees singer Davy Jones.  He did so just in time for the release of his single, Can't Help Thinking About Me.  He said that he chose "Bowie" because he liked that "big American bear-killing knife."

This next fact I had to throw in, because as soon as I read it all the different Swiffer commercials came to my mind.  In 1978 the song Baby Come Back by Player was the #1 song in the US.  It was written by Peter Beckett and John Crowley of the band after they had both broken up with their respective girl friends.  The single went on to reach #32 in the UK.

And finally, don't you just love hearing about different lawsuits that get tossed around in the music industry?  In 1999, Victoria's Secret was on the receiving end of a lawsuit by metal rockers Metallica, who claimed that the lingerie company infringed on their trademark when they marketed a line of "Metallica" lip pencils.

Well, I don't know about you, but now that I've gone through these, Baby Come Back is running through my head, SO on that note, I'm going to go put on something with a bit more of a metallica....I mean metal feel to it.  *wink*  Later....
