Would you believe these words came out of Iraq? I bet you are thinking they are words of an extremist group. Well you are right and you are wrong. They are extremists in there country because they choose to play heavy metal. The words are actually lyrics from Slayer's song: South of Heaven and they are sung by a band of Iraqi's called Brutal Impact.

Does this mean that the Middle East is trying to embrace the Western Culture? It seems that at least some of the younger generation is at least curious and possibly open to different ideas.

Music has always been an source of expression, comfort, and a bridge that crosses the boundaries of different cultures and reaches those who otherwise may not have been reached.

So, Slayer has touched the musical soul's of Brutal Impact. Check them out above. Check out the rest of the lyrics below. Kind of ironic. My hope is more young Iraqi's find in themselves this form of self expression. Find a peaceful way to express their emotions through song.
