Are you a Fan or a Fanatic?
Which would you rather be a fan or a fanatic? The choice is yours...
Topic, topic, topic, where is my topic. O there it is wildly chasing after all the people that we love.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think that there is a huge difference between a fan and a fanatic. A fan is one who has a love and respect for the people that they admire. They read the articles, listen to the interviews, go to the concerts with open minds to see the artist perform. The fan is one who you don’t have to be afraid of meeting in a dark alley. A fan does not put their name in with the artist like they are or are ever going to be together except of course in their wild fantasies (Look boss de plane, de plane).
On the other hand you have those who I have dubbed as a fanatic. They have a love for those that they admire, I don’t deny that. But it’s the extent to which they take that admiration that I have a problem with. They plaster their house with the articles, they have the interviews committed to memory word for word, they go to every concert on the ticket regardless of the cost to themselves or their family. The fanatic is not one you would want to meet in a well lit alley, let alone a dark one. A fanatic takes Mr. or Mrs. and then inserts the name of the artist and tends to honestly believe it. And what’s with the all the glittery comments on the different chat sites, give it a rest already.
So I ask you are a fan or a fanatic? Do you hang out in chat rooms in the hopes that the artist will show up just to talk to you. Would we be able to trust you with our idols in a closed private room or not? Well perhaps that’s not a fair question, because depending on the individual…..we’ll just leave that one alone.
Anyway like I said a fan or fanatic I personally don’t really mind either way however the thing that gets to me is the way you bring it across. Don’t try to pass yourself as something your not. But also have the decency to respect the other people that you are speaking to, if they don’t want to hear about your fetish then don’t keep talking about it.
Again this is just MY opinion if you would like to send me a comment please feel free to do so at butch@roadcrewmag.com, and I would be more than happy to respond. But also remember I might just come back to this topic and use any comments that I receive.
