December 2008, This Day In Rock

In Honor and Reflection

Fri, Dec 05, 2008

Remembering and giving honor on December 5th.

Today, I will be only highlighting one fact.  Not that there weren't other things that happened on this day in rock, BUT because of the magnitude of this fact.

I remember vividly what I was doing and where I was during 9-11.  I remember the shock and the horror and disbelief that I felt.  I had felt something similar not too many years before with the Oklahoma City bombing, as I am from Oklahoma.

I remember 2 words that I know have echoed across this nation:  NEVER FORGET

So, although my writing will be minimal and the fact impacting, let us NEVER FORGET.  Let us always remember that we are a free nation, and what the price of that freedom is.  Let us NEVER FORGET in the midst of the loss, there is hope.

On December 5th, 2001, Don Henley and David Crosby held a concert in Lowell, Mass that helped raise $300,000 for children of victims of the 9-11 terrorist attack.  The benefit was organized by US Representative Martin Meehan in order to help the children of his district pay for future education expenses.

NEVER FORGET
