SPOTLIGHT: THE BIG HEAVY
Bombs Away EP
The Big Heavy, hailing from a city already known for birthing some legendary bands, this Boston quintet is sure to be no different. With such powerful songs that will no doubt get deep into your soul, it is no wonder they are packing places all over the northeastern corner of the country. They are they winners of a placement in the top ten in all of New England, only to then move on and place 1st in the semi-finals of the Bodog battle of the bands contest.
There is a slightly southern rock feel to the title song Bombs Away. While Red Sky slips into a little of that Seattle sound and was even featured in the movie "Bring It On 4: In It To Win". Body Shines, is the ballad, if you must call it that, on the 4 song EP. Every bit of a love song, but yet still a rock song when it comes to the chorus. Personally, I can see Midnight Waters being a huge hit, especially if we are talking radio play success. The song as a thickness to it keeping you in and giving you something to get your groove on to.
If you get the chance to catch them live, I would be sure to not miss out. I cant wait for them to expand their wings a bit further, and if all their Twitter followers and MySpace friends are any indication, I hope it wont be much longer. There is definatley a buzz about them going around. Until then, make sure you pick up a copy of The Big Heavy Bombs Away EP.
