Alice In Chains New Album "Black Gives Way To Blue"
Alice In Chains are back with their first album in almost 14 years and their first album with new singer William Duvall
Alice in Chains are considered one of the pioneers of the "grunge" music scene. They came along with Nirvana,Pearl Jam,and Soundgarden all from Seattle, But Alice In Chains had a different sound than the other bands from the Grunge scene. They were a mix of heavy metal and acoustic elements and had the harmonized vocals of Jerry Cantrell and Layne Staley.
During their successful years in the 90's Singer Layne Staley was dealing with drug abuse like no other, It stuck out the most during the recordings and tour for the album "Dirt" where most of the lyrics were about his addiction to heroin, "Dirt" is the bands most successful album to date. They later on released the Album titled "Alice in Chains" where it would be the last album to feature the voice of Layne Staley.
The Band had then went on hiatus in 1995 since Staley wouldn't clean up his act and later on through the years the world would then see the demise of Layne Staley. On April 19th 2002 the police went into Layne's condo after a friend reported she hadn't heard from him in two weeks, They would soon to find a dead Layne Staley with drug paraphonelia all around him, an autopsy was done and he had died from a speed ball(mixture of cocaine and heroin). They said he had been dead for two weeks and had only weighed 86 pounds.
In 2005 the remaining band members would reunite for a charity concert for the tsunami's that happend in southern Asia. They were joined by guest vocalists from several bands. They then had found vocalist William Duvall who critics label as a "Layne Staley" sound-a-like. They then would go on tour with Velvet Revolver in 2007 and with great reception from critics and fans they decided to do a new album. The album is entitled "Black Gives Way To Blue" and they have already released two singles to the radio and public "A Looking In View" And "Check My Brain". Both songs have been given the thumbs up and the single "A Looking In View" has made it's way to the billboard charts.
