Frontman Jeremy Goldberg from Age Of Evil... Arizona's Sibling Force Of Metal!

Jeremy Goldberg, the dynamic frontman from Arizona's Age Of Evil, gives us a shout to talk about their new EP, 'Get Dead'.  He also gives us a little insight into the dynamics of playing in a band with two sets of brothers, as well as their upcoming projects.  It was truly a pleasure to talk to this respectful, level-headed young man of metal...  His unwavering positive attitude about the future of his relationship with his bandmates as well as their music is a formula for success that will serve them well.

Duff McKagan's Loaded - Live Concert

Duff McKagan's Loaded - Live Concert

Was a buzz going around tonight in a small town in UK called Leamington Spa, they were about to see a legend in action in his awesome band. Yes Duff McKagan(ex Guns n' Roses & Velvet Revolver) was in town with his band Duff McKagan's Loaded.

They hit the stage and duff shouted out 'We are Loaded and this is SICK' and went straight into the song 'Sick' what a opening song. Totally rocked and it was all go from there. Just sleaze rock all night with some punk thrown in. The whole band was given it all and they just totally rocked.

Duff was on top form and was enjoying himself up there. Telling us jokes and telling us about roadgay on the tour bus. For people who don’t know he plays guitar in this band, but pulls out the bass in some songs. Mike on lead guitar was awesome tonight and playing some excellent solos. Jeff the bass player put in a high energy performance, running all over the stage. New boy Isaac on drums was a power house tonight, so much power for a small bloke.

Loaded played a load of songs of the latest Sick tonight including 'sleaze factory' which is such an awesome. Also some punk covers such as 'new rose' and some Guns n' Roses songs to.

Was a surprise tonight, which was an encore. Which they have never done before, as they don’t believe in doing them. Just come on play until they get kicked off is the normal way for them. It was a song called 'your way' which was a big treat to the hardcore Loaded fans.

So over all, it was amazing show. Just pure out rock and can show a lot of bands how to do it. Then they went off and did meet n greet with a few selected fans who got to hang with them for about a hour. Which included myself in this. They just hung out with us and chatted was great. All such down to earth people

Bon Jovi - Live At Madison Square Gardens DVD

Bon Jovi - Live At Madison Square Gardens DVD

The Biggest live band on the planet released their latest live DVD. The boys from New Jersey have been around for over twenty five years now and this DVD is twenty five years in the making. They first played live at Madison Square Gardens supporting ZZ Top back in the early eighties and to be back playing there all this time after is a massive achievement.

This catches Bon Jovi at the end of a world tour in high defintation and surround sound, making it like you are at the concert yourself in your living room. They are on top form in this concert and shows you why they are the biggest live band on the planet. A high energy show with Jon having the crowd in his palm of his hands from the first minute right until the last minute.

The show includes all there hits over the years including 'livin on a prayer', 'its my life', ' keep the faith', wanted dead or alive and have a nice day. With the crowd loving every moment and singing along all the time. Also includes songs they haven’t played live for a while like 'always' and 'livin in sin'. Old hits 'blaze of glory and 'in these arms' sound a amazing at this gig.

Jon voice has struggled in the past with some songs but here tonight he’s on fire and hitting all the high notes with ease. Taking the energy from the crowd to keep him going to the very end. Richie guitar playing is top class and looks to be enjoying every minute.

This is a great show and a must for all you Bon Jovi fans out there and none fans will be blow away by how good this band is doing their thing live in front of a sell out audience.

This DVD is out now and also available on blu-ray

Uncensored RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE Controversial BBC Performance Filmed

Uncensored RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE Controversial BBC Performance Filmed

One phone call this week to a new multi-media company specializing in exclusive live concerts instantly changed the course of the musical verse “television revolution.”

The call was answered by Daniel E. Catullo III of DC3 Music Group LLC, producers of the new Creed Live and Alter Bridge Live From Amsterdam DVDs, telling the acclaimed live concert producer-director to quickly gather a crew to roll film for the historic, one-night reunion of Rage Against the Machine to act upon the band’s hotly contested Facebook battle against “American Idol” maker Simon Cowell in their charitable fight against homelessness. Rage Against the Machine’s campaign to beat Cowell protégé Joe McElderry for Britain’s No. 1 Christmas single to raise money and awareness for homelessness earned support this morning from Paul McCartney, who told Sky News it would “prove a point” if RATM won.

Catullo assembled and set up the crew at a secret Burbank soundstage Wednesday evening, and within six hours of that initial phone call, cameras were rolling to preserve this rare concert moment on film while the rest of the world was only hearing the live BBC “Radio 5 Live” broadcast that would later force an apology from the BBC for airing expletive lyrics.

“There was really only one person I could count on to execute and deliver and that was Dan Catullo,” said RATM road manager Steve Kidd. “Dan is first class and his company knows how to get it done. He showed me that last summer when he joined me on the road to make the Creed DVD. And he showed it again with Rage Against the Machine by not only bringing more to the table, but donating his time and all production costs. Once again, the end result exceeded our expectations. He and his company are top-notch, and I’ll work with them again whenever possible.”

Little did Catullo realize when he answered the call just how rare the moment he preserved on film would become.

Rage Against the Machine has made another rare return from its 2000 breakup to wake up a nation it believes has been desensitized by being spoon-fed a culture of reality television and "one schmaltzy ballad after another," according to guitarist Tom Morello. The band was able to focus its charge live on the BBC, thanks to an exclusive audio uplink from DC3 and its premier new web destination, Rockpit.com.

RATM’s voice screams for a new kind of revolution through their 1992 hit “Killing in the Name,” the song now vying for the Christmas Number One spot on British Radio while raising money for Shelter, the British homelessness charity. In their race to beat The X Factor winner Joe McElderry’s “The Climb,” the band also is making a point that too many people are sick of the talent shows Simon is producing to monopolize the airwaves with such a heavy influence on the music industry and its consumers.

Speaking on Cowell, RATM frontman Zach de la Rocha yesterday told NME News: “He seems to have profited greatly off humiliating people on television and has a unique position of capturing the attention of people on television, but also the airwaves. We see this (campaign) as a necessary break of that control.”

The song did not make it through its entirety once de la Rocha sang the “Fuck you I won’t do what you tell me” lyrics despite agreeing otherwise prior to going live. And much like The Doors’ infamous banning from The Ed Sullivan Show after Jim Morrison defied producers’ orders by singing the “girl we couldn’t get much higherlyric from “Light My Fire” on live TV, de la Rocha and Rage were silenced on the live airwaves and thus by a society which deems freedom of speech acceptable only within the comforts of its internal domicile. The BBC was forced to repeatedly apologize to its listeners yesterday for the band’s use of profanities, apparently content to silence a voice trying to shake the herds from their comfortable numbness.

In a time when technology is rapidly changing the music experience, DC3 Music Group LLC stands at the cutting edge of this revolutionary crossroads. Combining exclusive live concerts and behind-the-scenes content from multi-platinum artists and distributing them through multiple channels, including the latest mobile and digital technology through Rockpit.com, DC3 captures those special moments that bring the complete music experience to the consumer like no other.

GUITAR CENTER AND MÖTLEY CRÜE HAND-PICKED ARTISTS, THE LAST VEGAS, TOP ITUNES'

By Becca   Fri, Dec 18, 2009

GUITAR CENTER AND MÖTLEY CRÜE HAND-PICKED ARTISTS, THE LAST VEGAS, TOP ITUNES'

Guitar Center, the world's largest music retailer, announced that its On-Stage winner, The Last Vegas, topped iTunes critics' 2009 "Rock Singles of the Year List" with their hit single "I'm Bad" (Eleven Seven Music). Recently, Guitar Center partnered with Mötley Crüe, the world's most notorious rock band, on its undiscovered music program Guitar Center On-Stage through which one band, The Last Vegas, received an opening slot on Mötley's Crüe's 2009 U.S. tour, $25,000 cash, $20,000 in exclusive gear from Gibson Guitar, management from Tenth Street Entertainment, and a recording deal from Eleven Seven Music, Mötley's Crüe's management and record label. Due in part to Guitar Center's commitment to the support of aspiring artists, the band has risen to the top of the most popular digital music store in the world's annual "best-of" list in just one year. The chart topping single can be purchased at http://tinyurl.com/ImBadiTunes

"We cannot thank Guitar Center enough for kick-starting our careers with its On-Stage
program," said Chad Cherry, lead singer of The Last Vegas. "From the moment we won their extremely generous prize and were hand-selected by Mötley Crüe to open for them on tour, our lives have been sent into a whirlwind of rock and roll. Look at us now; we're sitting on top of the iTunes charts and it all started with Guitar Center."

The Last Vegas has been dubbed "Best Discovery" by SPIN and, since winning Guitar Center On-Stage
, has built an impressive touring history throughout arenas, clubs and theaters in 2009, side-by-side with renowned acts like Buckcherry, Hinder, Theory of a Deadman and Papa Roach.

Guitar Center On-Stage is just one of many Guitar Center initiatives created to foster growth and success within the music community, including its annual King of the Blues and Drum-Off competitions, among others. Guitar Center's King of the Blues is a nationwide amateur guitar skills competition with the goal of finding the next great undiscovered blues guitar player. Drum-Off is an annual drumming competition that, now in its 21st year, has been a launching pad for many drummers, including Cora Coleman-Dunham and Tony Royster Jr, two Drum-Off
winners who have gone on to become highly acclaimed professional drummers (with Prince and Jay Z respectively).

"Guitar Center prides itself on helping musicians pursue and accomplish their dreams and The Last Vegas are the perfect Cinderella story," said Norman Hajjar, EVP and Chief Marketing Officer for Guitar Center. "The Last Vegas has gone above and beyond the achievements we had hoped for when we started the Guitar Center On-Stage
program and we can't wait to see where they're headed."

Original Girl-Guitar Company Celebrates 10 Years of Empowering Females Worldwide and Creating The Girl Guitar Revolution

By Becca   Wed, Dec 16, 2009

Original Girl-Guitar Company Celebrates 10 Years of Empowering Females Worldwide and Creating The Girl Guitar Revolution

The past 10 years has brought Founder and President of Daisy Rock Girl Guitars, Tish Ciravolo, museum inductions, numerous awards, motivational speeches to millions of girls, billions of media impressions touting the girl guitar revolution, the world’s first girl guitar/bass instructional books/CDs/DVDs, appearances in Guitar Hero®/Band Hero™, and the propulsion of the girls rock empowerment message far beyond the music industry through licensing partnerships—on top of rocking stages all over the country and most importantly, being a mother of two.

And that was just the first 10 years……..

The idea for Daisy Rock Girl Guitars was sparked from a drawing by Ciravolo’s daughter in the beginning of 2000. “The day my daughter Nicole made that drawing, it was like any other day,” Ciravolo reminisced. “She was the cutest 1 year old, and her favorite thing to draw was daisies” said Ciravolo. “I was enjoying her being a child, not like so many other days when it feels like you are just trying to keep up. She drew a daisy, I turned it into a guitar, and my motherly, protective, musician self decided, in that frozen moment, to create a better experience for her in the music industry. Maybe one day she could walk into a music store and feel like she was welcome to be part of this “club,” this culture, this awesome community of guitarists—regardless of gender. A community that I never felt welcomed into while being a musician in the ‘80s and ‘90s. This was my chance—my duty—to change the culture and provide her and all girls with a better, more inviting experience.”

Forging a new and unique path in a heavily male-dominated industry, Daisy Rock Girl Guitars made an immediate impression. Receiving acclaim from artists, press, and others in the music field, Ciravolo knew Daisy Rock was on a successful path. “Then, pink guitars popped up everywhere like wild weeds in the land of Daisy’s. Everyone tried it. Everyone embraced it.” Ciravolo continued, “The guitar industry acknowledged the change, and the music store dealer gladly accepted a new customer. And the artists believed in the passion and understood the mission.” The first artist to contact Daisy Rock was Wanda Jackson, “Queen of Rockabilly” and recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee who praised that Daisy Rock Girl Guitars “fit girls in all the right places.” Now 10 years later, the company boasts an artist roster of over 400 rockin’ females, and that number is increasing every day.

Daisy Rock Girl Guitars has also become the leading sponsor of girl rock camps throughout the world. In 2000, Daisy Rock partnered with the Rock and Roll Camp for Girls, one of the very first rock camps specifically geared towards females, by donating instruments. Ciravolo remembered, “I just wanted to try and inspire every single female to pick up a guitar or bass and play music. Make it matter; make it a part of her life. I wanted to help girls find their passion, live their dreams, and be part of this crazy thing that we all create… music.” Girl rock camps have grown exponentially over the last 10 years, and Daisy Rock is a proud partner and main supporter of all girl rock camps worldwide. All in all, within the past 10 years, Daisy Rock has helped over 150,000 girls play guitar.

Available in 26 countries, Daisy Rock Girl Guitar continues to seek new ways to reach females around the world and support their dreams of playing guitar. “The most important recognition through all the media buzz, the hype, the museum inductions, and the growth? The GUITARS. Daisy Rock’s have always been really great playing and sounding guitars. That is where the movement meets the sustain, and the passion continues to grow, because the guitars are built extremely well, play fantastic, and sound amazing,” commented Ciravolo. “A decade of Daisy’s, and we’ve only just begun.”

Daisy Rock Girl Guitars offers a complete line of quality girl guitars designed to look and sound great, and to fit the female form. For more info and to find a dealer near you, visit daisyrock.com now!

Green Day: Rock Band

By Becca   Mon, Dec 14, 2009

Green Day: Rock Band

Multi-platinum selling and Grammy® Award winning group Green Day, along with Harmonix, the leading developer of music-based games, MTV Games, a part of Viacom's MTV Networks (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B), and Warner Bros./Reprise Records today announced at the 2009 Spike Video Game Awards that they are collaborating on the standalone title Green Day: Rock Band(TM).

"We've worked with the Rock Band team in the past year to enable our fans to play tracks from 21st Century Breakdown, and we're excited to now be working on a game, spanning our entire career," said Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong. "We want people to fire this up, choose their favorite Green Day tracks, and play along with us as Rock Band avatars so they can feel what it's like to perform on stage as Green Day."

The game is an extension and expression of Green Day's most-defining albums and key moments throughout their career to date. It will feature likenesses of Green Day members Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tre Cool, as well as select venues and art specific to the band's history. The title will be available globally in 2010 for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Wii(TM) system from Nintendo. In addition, the track list will be fully exportable, giving players the opportunity to play the songs in Rock Band(TM) and Rock Band 2(TM) on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation3.

"Green Day's music and explosive live performances transcend age barriers," says Tom Whalley, Chairman/CEO, Warner Bros. Records. "By partnering with the band and Harmonix, Warner Bros./Reprise is thrilled to help create a Rock Band experience devoted exclusively to their impressive catalog. This game will appeal to fans of all ages, including those who love their recent best-selling albums and those who've loved Green Day throughout their long, incredible career."

"It's very exciting to work closely with Green Day to create an experience that captures the incomparable sound, look and feel of the band," said Paul DeGooyer, SVP of Electronic Games and Music for MTV Networks Music Group. "'Green Day: Rock Band' is yet another example of how music fans can connect with some of the greatest music ever recorded via the Rock Band platform."

"This game will feel like a natural extension of Green Day and their music that will deepen the fans' connection to the band and their history," said Alex Rigopulos, CEO and co-founder of Harmonix Music Systems. "Fans will be able to enjoy some of the greatest songs from the Green Day catalogue in this standalone game or via Rock Band due to full export capability. We are thrilled to work with Green Day to revisit key moments from their career, including their likenesses, content and imagery, through our innovative form of musical interaction."

This latest Rock Band title aims to encapsulate the spirit and energy of a band that has sold more than 50 million records worldwide and been hailed as one of the best live acts touring today. Green Day has won critical acclaim and numerous accolades, including Grammy Awards for Best Alternative Album for Dookie, Best Rock Album for American Idiot and Record of the Year for their smash hit "Boulevard of Broken Dreams." Earlier this year, Green Day released their eighth studio album, 21st Century Breakdown, on Warner Music Group's Reprise Records. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, as well as on the Rock, Active Rock and Alternative charts, fueled by the alternative radio No. 1 single "Know Your Enemy."

SOULFLY & CAVALERA CONSPIRACY’s Guitar Virtuoso MARK RIZZO on Solo US Tour In 2010

SOULFLY & CAVALERA CONSPIRACY’s Guitar Virtuoso MARK RIZZO on Solo US Tour In 2010

Marc Rizzo once again has stepped out from his six-string tour of duty with SOULFLY and CAVALERA CONSPIRACY to deliver his new solo project, LEGIONAIRE on Phlamencore Records. This new albums reveals a phenomenal command of the guitar that Rizzo has become known for.

LEGIONAIRE was written and recorded over a two year period, while touring worldwide with SOULFLY and CAVALERA CONSPIRACY. Having time to write this record while on the road and in between tours, Rizzo would break and get into the studio to record, then back out on the road. “I’m really excited about this record”, exclaims Rizzo. “I had a lot of time since my last record to really think about this new album. I think traveling all over the world, writing all the new material, really influenced the sound. After two U.S. solo tours in 2008, I think I really figured out what songs work well live. I’m really excited to play these new songs in front of a live audience. It’s very cool to see kids slam dancing and going off to instrumental music.”

Rizzo is touted a master musician with deep musical roots in metal, classical and flamenco guitar. His raw energy combined with the talent of a new-generation shred-master is a much needed breath of fresh air to the instrumental rock genre.

This Day In Rock

Hello Friends and welcome to this thirsty Thursday edition of This Day In Rock. Lets take that walk down musical memory lane!

On this day in 1966 Elvis Presley Donated over $100,000 to various Charities in Memphis Tennessee.

"Good Vibrations" goes #1 for The Beach Boys in 1966.

On this day in 1966 Otis Redding is killed when The airplane he was aboard crashed.

On this day in 1983 "Say,Say, Say" By Paul McCartney & Michael Jackson goes #1.

And for some amusing news the Associated Press reported  in 2008 that the US military used loud music to "create fear, disorient...and prolong capture shock" for prisoners at military detention centers at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Among the songs blasted 24 hours a day were "The Theme From Sesame Street" "Hell's Bells" by AC/DC, "White America" by Eminem,"Born In The USA" by Bruce Springsteen, and "I Love You" from the Barney and Friends children's TV show. SLAYER SPREADS A LITTLE HATE WORLDWIDE WITH 4TH GRAMMY NOMINATION

By Becca   Wed, Dec 09, 2009

SLAYER SPREADS A LITTLE HATE WORLDWIDE WITH 4TH GRAMMY NOMINATION

Dancing with the Devil must appeal to the N.A.R.A.S. membership, as they've gone and done it again - nominated Slayer for a Grammy Award.  And the members of Slayer - guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, bassist/vocalist Tom Araya, and drummer Dave Lombardo - are wickedly pleased.

This, Slayer's fourth Grammy nod in the Best Metal Performance category, is for the track "Hate Worldwide," off of the band's new album World Painted Blood, which offers a Slayer-ized viewpoint of our world - God's terrifying global genocide, the chaos of our broken political system, the way-too-close proximity of world horrors that technology has brought us, and a chilling hypothesis of how the rest of the world might view America.  "Hate Worldwide," written by King, showcases classic Slayer hate-fueled venom spewed forth at impossible speeds - "That's why it's become my obsession/To treat God like an infection/My scars, insane/My life, profane/I deny, defy, and spread a little hate worldwide."

Released November 2, World Painted Blood has received raves from retail:  the album debuted at #12 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums charts;  radio:  after multiple weeks at #1 on all of the major metal radio charts, the album says farewell to 2009 still firmly embedded in that #1 position; and press:  according to one media outlet, World Painted Blood "recaptures the manic fury of Reign in Blood, the range of South of Heaven, and the grand scale of Seasons in the Abyss."  In addition, the album was a Top Ten debut in numerous countries outside the U.S., including Germany, Australia, Japan, and Canada.

Nominated for a Grammy three previous times in the Best Metal Performance category, Slayer has taken the award home twice - in 2006 for "Eyes of the Insane," from Christ Illusion, and in 2007 for "Final Six," from the Christ Illusion Limited Edition release.  The band's first Grammy nomination came in 2002 for the track "Disciple" from the album God Hates Us All.

Slayer will kick off Twenty-Ten co-headlining the North American American Carnage tour, marking the first time that Slayer and Megadeth have shared a U.S. stage since 1991's epic "Clash of the Titans" tour.  The 26-date trek kicks off January 18 in Seattle, WA.

Dracula Novelist to Direct Jimi Hendrix Film for Transformers Producer

By Becca   Tue, Dec 08, 2009

INCARNADINE: THE TRUE MEMOIRS OF COUNT DRACULA is a new novel written as a first-person "memoir" by Bram Stoker's Dracula, and it has nothing to do with rock and roll. Still, in what might be the strangest pairing in recent memory, the "vampire king" is about to meet rock god Jimi Hendrix. There's one degree of separation though, in the person of author and filmmaker R. H. Greene.

Greene is currently promoting his novel INCARNADINE to good reviews and solid sales. Now the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER says that heavyweight producers Don Murphy (TRANSFORMERS) and Carol Lewis (THE CAT'S MEOW) will team to produce Greene's original screenplay SLIDE, about the long-rumored 1969 kidnapping of Jimi Hendrix. Greene himself is slated to direct.

TRANSFORMERS? Dracula? Jimi Hendrix? Sounds like Greene hit the zeitgeist trifecta. He doesn't think so though.

"This is the classic case of 'it never rains but it pours,'" Greene says. "Both these projects were years in the making, and where SLIDE is based on something Jimi Hendrix himself told close friends was a true incident, INCARNADINE: THE TRUE MEMOIRS OF COUNT DRACULA is entirely a work of fiction. What they share, though, is a grounding in heavy research, and that each hopefully takes an unexpected approach to a story we think we know."

Greene is mum on details about SLIDE, which he considers a work in progress, "as all films in preproduction are." But he does have advice for the curious.

"If you want to know what SLIDE will be like, INCARNADINE is right there on Amazon, where you can get a copy at a great discount," Greene says with a laugh. "They're both about topics I care about, and they both came from the same mind. If I did my job, you've never met a Dracula like the one in the novel, and the film will also show Jimi Hendrix in a way that's both truthful and unique."

Goth bible FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND has hailed INCARNADINE as an "ambitious" and "authentic" work for the way it "reexamines and re-imagines the mythos of Bram Stoker's Dracula." The FM review also says that the novel "resonates as a meditation on religion and human nature," adding "[R. H.] Greene has turned [Dracula] into a figure so complicated and engaging that even the most bizarre events are taken in stride because we want to keep reading."

But can a novelist achieve the same personal voice in a technological medium like film? "Of course," Greene says. "It's been done many times. It's one reason I'm so delighted to be working on SLIDE with Don and Carol - two great people with great gifts. Movies are so much more collaborative than novels. We all mean to depict a little-known aspect of the Jimi Hendrix story in a way that will do Jimi proud."

Musician Turned Mixer Makes 'Hanukkah Metal Magic'

By Becca   Tue, Dec 08, 2009

Musician Turned Mixer Makes 'Hanukkah Metal Magic'
Just in time for the holidays, award-winning musician-turned-engineer Paul LaPlaca has mixed Hanukkah Gone Metal, the new CD by NYC metal masters Gods of Fire, which will be released today. The recording was inspired by Major League Dreidel, which asked the band to write the theme song for last year's Dreidel Tournament.

"I was instantly intrigued by this project," commented LaPlaca, founder of Stentor Productions. "The Christmas music market is so saturated right now, it's a no-brainer to release a Hanukkah-themed project. And this album is just so well done! It's reverent, historical, tongue-in-cheek and phenomenally well-written. Plus, it ROCKS!"

"While asking around for the right candidate, Paul's name consistently came up," said Gods of Fire guitarist Seth Diamond. "He turned out to be a perfect fit, delivering a mix above expectations and below budget." Gods of Fire will hold their album release party this evening at the Full Circle Bar, to be followed by performances at the Knitting Factory on Dec. 12th and Fontana's on Dec. 17th.

LaPlaca's involvement in the project deepened when he discovered that all the keyboards on the recording were handled by Diamond. For live shows, however, the band would ultimately need another player to perform those parts.

"I jumped at the chance!" added LaPlaca. "After spending several weeks on the mix, I knew the songs inside and out so it was no problem."

With the recent advances of digital recording technology, LaPlaca has been slowly building his own production company and he has found himself increasingly behind the mixing board, switching from the role of a musician to that of a producer/engineer. His company website lists a variety of audio services and a network of pro session players.

"I've always been interested in audio technology," says LaPlaca. "It's a very natural extension to go from performance to recording."

Since moving to NYC in 1994, LaPlaca has kept himself busy in the industry. He has toured with ZO2 opening for Kiss and performed with Trans-Siberian Orchestra guitarist Chris Caffery. LaPlaca is also a two-time winner of the Western New York's Hottest Guitarist Competition. Currently he is hard at work on several new projects, including a tribute album featuring members of Quiet Riot, WASP and Don Jameson from VH1's "That Metal Show."

NICO VEGA POSTS LIVE PERFORMANCE VIDEO FOR “GRAVITY”

Los Angeles rock trio NICO VEGA has just released a live performance music video recorded at the famed Roxy Theatre on the Sunset Strip for the track “Gravity.”

The band will be filming the official “Gravity” video in January for release the following month, but in the meantime please do watch as NICO VEGA delivers a knockout performance of the song at a recent hometown show.

Known for its intense and frenetic performances that do not disappoint, NICO VEGA’S new video for “Gravity” shows the band in its element as lead singer Aja plays priestess, shaman and rock star onstage. A bit Patti Smith with the sex appeal and swagger of a ‘70s rock star, she leads an all-out assault on the senses that leaves audiences satiated and exhausted.

Wendy’s and MySpace Records have teamed up to launch a new Internet series called “Fresh Faces.” Building on Wendy’s motto of ‘You Know When It’s Real,’ the ongoing Web program consists of 9 episodes from three different emerging artists showing what a ‘day in the life’ of a budding new artist is like.

Each “Fresh Faces” artist has its own 3 episodes than can be seen exclusively at www.myspace.com/wendys, in addition to a 3-song EP available for free download on the site. A new episode will debut every Wednesday throughout the series.

The first episode of the final series installment featuring Madison, WI’s self-described, “doo-wop punk” outfit, Locksley (www.myspace.com/locksley) is up now at www.myspace.com/wendys. Previously featured was Charleston, SC alternative pop rock artist Friends For Hire (www.myspace.com/friendsforhire) and LA hip hop artist IamOMNI (www.myspace.com/IamOMNI).

Locksley’s penchant for melody and up-tempo, sing-along-friendly songs has drawn comparisons to everyone from the Beatles and Kinks to the Cure and the Strokes. Locksley self-released their debut album “Don’t Make Me Wait” in 2007. Considerable touring followed, including a stint as both the opener and backing band for Kinks legend Ray Davies, as well as performances on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and “Late Night With Conan O’Brien”. 2008 saw the release of a 3-song Locksley RockBand pack, a feature as MTV’s Artist of the Week and several high-profile song placements, including the movie Cloverfield. Their sophomore album, “Be In Love” is set to hit stores January 26th, 2010.

This Day In Rock

Hello  friends and welcome to this thirsty Thursday edition of This Day In Rock. I don't know about where you live but here in Missouri it is a freezing 24 degrees this morning. I really can't complain since this will be the beginning of the first real cold spell this year. Speaking of spells, let me put you under mine and lets take that walk down musical memory lane.

On this day in 1955 "Mystery Train" and "I Forgot to Remember to Forget" The first releases By Elvis Presley are made public in an announcement by by His record company RCA.

In 1965 Rolling Stones Guitar player Keith Richards Is knocked out cold when he stepped on an electric guitar cable and got electrocuted. Amazingly after a break by the band he feels good enough to continue and finish the concert.

On this day in 1965 The Beatles begin what would be thier final British tour.

In 1966 Honolulu Hawaii was where the Monkees performed their first live concert.

NBC Television network was host to Elvis Presley's first live performance in seven years in the year 1968.

Well friends that is all fro today. Until Tomorrow......

Top 10 Reasons Why Giving Musical Instruments Makes Most 'Cents' for Holidays

By Becca   Thu, Dec 03, 2009

Top 10 Reasons Why Giving Musical Instruments Makes Most 'Cents' for Holidays
With interest in recreational music making at an all-time high, according to a 2009 Gallup Poll* conducted by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM), the holidays are the perfect time to share the gift of music by giving a gift of music lessons or instruments. NAMM's "Top 10 Reasons" illustrates just some of the many proven benefits of an untraditional musical gift that keeps on giving beyond the holidays:

10 Reasons for Giving Musical Instruments and Lessons This Holiday Season

Brought to you by NAMM

1. You're never too old to learn how to play music - A common myth, but music can be learned at any age, and studies show that making music is a life-long skill that enriches the lives of children and adults 2. Making music relieves stress - Recreational music making has been scientifically proven to help reduce stress and reverse the body's response to stress at the DNA level. With the holidays as one of the most stressful times of the year, making music or giving a gift for someone special to make music for you, can help reduce stress for an entire family 3. Making music fights off depression - Depression affects about 19 million people in the U.S.**, and with the holiday season as one of the most vulnerable times of the year, music making can make all the difference in keeping spirits uplifted 4. Enrich your holiday experience - and your life! - with music making - Whether gathering around the piano to play holiday tunes or caroling around the neighborhood, or dancing to live music at a holiday party, music making vibrantly brings the entire holiday experience to life 5. Use music to create lasting family traditions - Each family has its own traditions, but music making offers a new way for families to celebrate the festive season together. From playing a favorite tune on the piano or jamming on the drums with a rock n' roll rendition of a classic holiday song, music-making can create unique traditions for generations to share 6. Playing music together promotes bonding - As families and friends come together during the holiday season, playing music offers an exciting way for everyone to join in on the fun, creating a sense of togetherness 7. High play value of musical instruments - The average cost that parents will spend on giving gifts to their kids is $200, with many kids tossing those gifts aside in a matter of months and moving on to the next fad. But with the gift of musical instruments, parents can give their kids a priceless pastime that will last for many years or a passion for music to last a lifetime 8. Cost comparison/savings over time - On average, Americans are expected to spend $638 on holiday shopping this year, according to a 2009 National Retail Federation Report. When compared to the average price of music lessons and pre-owned instruments, the cost of music making is typically less in comparison 9. Biggest regret most people have - According to a 2009 Gallup Survey, 85 percent of Americans who do not play a musical instrument say they wish they had learned to play--the holidays are a perfect time to make that wish come true. For example, Rob Thomas, acclaimed recording artist and songwriter, regrets not taking piano lessons 10. Unleash your inner rock star (or your child's inner rocker!) - Take virtual music making with video games to the next level and let yourself or your kids develop their talent with a real musical instrument, just like their favorite bands and artists

For more reasons and to learn about the benefits of music making, or to find music lessons providers or music stores near you, visit www.wannaplaymusic.com.

The favorite holiday pastime of many celebrities involves making music. Did you know:

-- Reese Witherspoon loves to spend the holidays singing Christmas carols -- Faith Hill's favorite carol to sing around the holidays is "Little Drummer Boy" -- Harry Connick Jr. plays the season favorites for his family and friends

*2009 Public Attitudes Toward Music study, conducted on behalf of NAMM (the National Association of Music Merchants)

The Beat Goes On as Sony Electronics Presents 'Creed Live' Music Concert in Select Digital Cinema Theaters Nationwide

By Becca   Thu, Dec 03, 2009

The Beat Goes On as Sony Electronics Presents 'Creed Live' Music Concert in Select Digital Cinema Theaters Nationwide

Sony Electronics is presenting "Creed Live," the third in a series of digital cinema music concerts as part of an ongoing alternative content initiative by its Digital Cinema Solutions and Services group.

An exclusive, one-night-only event, the concert premieres in select U.S. theaters on December 7 and marks the band's first full live performance ever recorded. The music concert series has become a major part of Sony's efforts to highlight the potential of alternative content for providing exhibitors with an additional revenue source during non-peak times as well as an expanded menu of programming.

After nearly a decade in hiatus, Creed's original line-up is featured in this performance, which was recorded live in Houston in front of 17,000 fans. The concert was shot in high definition with 5.1 Dolby Digital(TM) surround sound.

The Sony digital cinema series of music concerts was developed to present exhibitors and music fans with a high-quality HD, cinematic, surround sound experience.

"Making this DVD was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for us," said Creed lead singer Scott Stapp. "[Producer/director] Daniel Catullo and his staff not only set a world record filming this, but set a whole new benchmark for filming the live show with unprecedented vision and creativity. I have never seen anything like this, nor have our fans. I am so excited to finally give Creed fans something they will never forget. I know this is something that will keep us connected at all times through the live experience. Honestly, I am blown away!"

Making the show even more dynamic, select theaters will show the concert using Sony's innovative 4K digital cinema projectors, which deliver image quality and picture resolution that is approximately four times greater than consumer HDTV.

"Creed is a fantastic addition to our series of theatrical music events," said Mike Fidler, senior vice president of Digital Cinema Solutions and Services for Sony Electronics. "The band's long-standing commercial success and loyalty of their fanbase is sure to make this movie-concert experience a success. The ability to see this performance in 4K resolution will only heighten the level of excitement and create a truly unique and immersive entertainment experience."

The program will also be made available for a 30-day period on Sony's BRAVIA(TM) Internet Video platform as video-on-demand IP content. The digital cinema music concerts from Sony are managed in collaboration with Media Push Entertainment LLC, and the theater venues are being booked in collaboration with entertainment industry consultants Evan Saxon and Doug Kluthe.

"Premiering a band of Creed's magnitude in a production of this caliber demonstrates Sony's commitment to developing digital cinema events that deliver true benefits for exhibitors and unrivaled value for consumers," said Steve Sterling of Media Push Entertainment.

Information about the "Creed Live" event and Sony's digital cinema music concert series is at www.sonyclubdates.com.

In its career, Creed has had three multi-platinum albums: 1996's "My Own Prison" sold 6 million, 1999's "Human Clay" sold 11 million and 2001's "Weathered" sold 6 million. John Lennon Missing Recordings Discovered and Released

By Becca   Thu, Dec 03, 2009

Recently some rare and unreleased John Lennon recordings were discovered in a vault. These recordings were taped on August 19, 1980. They were done separately from the mysteriously missing video footage that was filmed at what is believed to be John Lennon's last recording session with his band prior to his death. Even more incredible, these recordings have never been released until now.

Twenty-nine years ago on December 08, 1980, The Beatles fans were stunned by four senseless shots fired into the back of John Lennon. He was only 40 and had become one of the most influential musicians of all time. That night the world stood still and silent for a moment.

These one of a kind Lennon recordings are available for preview at www.LennonTapes.com along with the story about the evening these tapes were recorded.

To commemorate the 29th anniversary of John Lennon's death and with the Christmas season upon us, it feels like the perfect time to get back into the Lennon spirit with these rare and precious recordings just in time to Give Peace Another Chance this holiday season.

For the first time ever these newly discovered recordings are available for a pre-order purchase at www.LennonTapes.com and at your request, the pre-order allows you to direct the email download on December 23rd to be sent to yourself or your friends as a Christmas gift. For only $10 US, this is one of the best gifts that you can give this Christmas.

John had left The Beatles in 1970 and went on to record solo albums which all became classics. First came John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band and then Imagine. The songs "Give Peace a Chance" and "Imagine" would create a worldwide movement. Then came "Happy Xmas (War is Over)." In 1973, Lennon released "Mind Games"; in September 1974, Walls and Bridges and the single "Whatever Gets You Thru the Night"; in 1975 "Rock 'n' Roll" was released, on April 18th 1975 Lennon made his last TV appearance performing "Imagine"; in October 1975, Lennon releases "Shaved Fish."

It was in August 1980 when Lennon entered the Hit Factory recording studios in New York City, where he recorded the Double Fantasy album, and this tape was recorded the last night that he was ever in the studio with his band.

Released in memory of John Lennon. We miss you.

KILL BRAND TO LAUNCH NEW CLOTHING LINE FEATURING THE PHOTOGRAPHY OF ALL TIME LOW BASSIST ZACK MERRICK

By Becca   Wed, Dec 02, 2009

KILL BRAND TO LAUNCH NEW CLOTHING LINE FEATURING THE PHOTOGRAPHY OF ALL TIME LOW BASSIST ZACK MERRICK

Kill Brand, the burgeoning lifestyle brand based out of Asbury Park, NJ, is teaming up with All Time Low bassist Zack Merrick for a limited edition collection of clothing featuring the original photography of the musician.

From the bright lights of the stage, to the parking lot after the show, to long hauls to the next city, life is different for a musician on the road. It is with this idea in mind that KIll Brand/Kids Into Living Life is proud to collaborate with Zack Merrick for a special fashion collection to be released with the company’s Winter 2009 line.

See life through the eyes of a true road warrior. The pictures tell the story of a band on the run. The excitement, the tension and the anticipation of young musicians on the rise is visible in each frame.

Jonathan Smith, Kill Brand founder and former member of Tokyo Rose, explains how he teamed up with Merrick: “Zack and I were friends first, and he has always supported Kill Brand. I was looking at his computer one day and I said, ‘This picture is so sick who took it?’ He said, ‘Oh, I just mess around in my spare time and take photos while I'm on tour.’ We thought that collaborating his prints and our clothing would be a great outlet for people to appreciate Zack's photos, instead of just having them hung on a wall.”

The Zack Merrick Collection by Kill Brand is available December 4th at killbrand.com and in stores across the country and around the world.

About Kill Brand:

Kill Brand seeks to provide a unified creative response to a new generation who infuse their lives with passion and excitement. Kill Brand pushes the limits of expression, unifying the realms of art, music, and beyond. Kill Brand infuses love and enthusiasm to create a clothing line that reflects the style in us all.

In 2001, Kill Brand was created by musician, Jonathan Smith. While on tour in the band Tokyo Rose (SideCho Records), Jonny ran into a problem -- no clean t-shirts. With a hot pink T-shirt and black spray paint in hand, Jonny randomly “graffitied” K-I-L-L across the front of the T and took the stage. This fresh trend took punk rock fans by storm. Before long, Jonny was designing, spray-painting, and selling his T's out of the back of the tour van. As demand grew, Jonny invested in a screen-printing machine to keep up with supply. Jonny personally screen-printed every item by hand with his signature, KILL. Kill Brand's notoriety grew as Jonny left Tokyo Rose and pursued promoting the apparel at music festivals across the U.S.

Kill Brand designs are requested by stylists from GQ Magazine, featured in Alternative Press, and Wonka Vision Magazine, and worn by celebrities Seth Green, Pete Wentz, Patrick Stump, Steven of Steven's Untitled Rock Show, Nicole Richie, Ashlee Simpson, and Jessica Simpson. Bands like Second Hand Serenade, Fall Out Boy, The Used, My Chemical Romance, and countless others all are fans of the line. Kill Brand is currently available in Tilly's, Hot Topic, Zumiez, and over 400 retail stores worldwide.

All Time Low is currently on tour, for more info see www.myspace.com/alltimelow.

Revolution In The Head - Rage Against The Machine and the Art Of Protest To Be Released On DVD February 23

By Becca   Wed, Dec 02, 2009

Revolution In The Head - Rage Against The Machine and the Art Of Protest To Be Released On DVD February 23

Arguably the most provocative band of the last 20 years, Rage Against The Machine have since their explosive debut, been the group most associated with the American protest movement. Picking up the flame from a linear musical tradition going back to the War Of Independence, with the best known protagonists coming up during the 1950s and 60s civil rights movement via artists such as Pete Segar and the young Bob Dylan, the anger remained as brutal as ever during the final decade of the 20th Century in Rage and contemporaries like Public Enemy.

This film dissects the work and career of RATM and looks at their place in this always fascinating lineage of artists and performers who have spoken out on behalf of, and drawn attention to, the world's marginalised, downtrodden and oppressed.

FEATURING brand new interviews with:
- Renowned producer and engineer, Garth Richardson
- RATM Biographer, Colin Devenish
- The band's live sound engineer, Dave 'Rat' Levine
- Plus the man who signed them, Michael Goldstone

With further contributions from folk-protest singer and author Jerry Silverman, ex-Rolling Stone editor Joe Levy, and Professor of American Studies and English at Washington State University, T.V. Reed.

Steel Panther - Live at Rock City

By Dave   Tue, Dec 01, 2009

Steel Panther - Live at Rock City

It was like being back in the eighties in Nottingham Rock City, with many people in the crowed supporting big hair and several in spandax. We were already to party with Steel Panther the only band trying to bring back the eighties. From past Steel Panther shows u know u gotta get your money worth and you sure did tonight.

The band hits the stage all dressed up in spandax and demin with big hair. The room was electric as they went straight into 'Eyes of a panther'. The crowd went wild and carried on this way all night. Singing along all night and enjoying Steel Panther. Through out the show the band was giving out a lot of banter between them selves and the audience. Cover sex, drugs and rock n roll. With plenty of joke telling and trying to get it on with many of the females in the audience. Out on the stage the band will give you all the rockstar poses throught out the gig.

Back to the music these guys are a very talented lot. With songs like 'community property', 'shocker', death to all but metal' and 'party all night'. All sound like classic eightes hair metal. Other favourites on the night were ' fat girls' and 'turn out the lights'.

Lead singer Michael Starr was on fire tonight and was taken by the crowd as a rock god! Looking like David Lee Roth for most night he gave it all and what a front man. Satchell is a awesome guitrist

For the encore they played two covers. Guns n' Roses Mr Brownstone was first and they totally rocked the hell out of this song. Second was Whitesnake Here We Go Again which went into a load of different songs which they joked ripped of this song was so funny. Then that was it!

After just under two hours it was over. What a night and what a concert! It was like being back in the eighties tonight and Steel Panther totally delivered. A mixture of songs and story telling. They put the fun back into rock n roll tonight and you have to see this band live. Check them out weekly in LA and in Las Vegas. Also they be back in the UK in March.

"Born In The Garage - BOMP Part II", by Suzy Shaw and Mike Stax

By Becca   Mon, Nov 30, 2009

"Born In The Garage - BOMP Part II", by Suzy Shaw and Mike Stax
BORN IN THE GARAGE - BOMP PART II, by Suzy Shaw and Mike Stax, is a heavyweight celebration of the roots of rock fandom. With eye-popping cover art by the immortal William Stout, this is the ultimate anthology of rock'n'roll fandom from its inception to its mid/late 1970s heyday.

The book includes 300 pages of reproductions from Greg Shaw's pioneering 70s era zines Who Put The Bomp and BOMP! plus essays by Jon Savage, Alec Palao, Ken Barnes, Suzy Shaw and Mike Stax covering 60s garage and beat, surf, British Invasion, girl groups, rockabilly, acid punk and psychedelia, along with obsessively detailed discographies and label listings, plus reams of readers' letters and never before published material. The sheer volume of historical information is almost mind-boggling. Also included are reprints from Shaw's obscure personal zines, Metanoia and Liquid Love, circulated in 1970-72 to just a handful of friends and fellow writers.

Aside from including a huge selection of Shaw's insightful writing, BOMP! PART II also includes rare early work by celebrated rock scribes like Ken Barnes, Lester Bangs, Lenny Kaye, Richard Meltzer, Dave Marsh, Mike Saunders, Phast Phreddie Patterson and others.

The book also features artwork by underground art legends Jay Kinney, William Stout and Tim Kirk.

The Who Set to Rock Super Bowl XLIV Halftime Show

By Becca   Mon, Nov 30, 2009

The Who Set to Rock Super Bowl XLIV Halftime Show

For many, the World's Greatest Rock Band, The Who, will be seen by one of the largest television audiences in history when the group headlines the Bridgestone Super Bowl XLIV Halftime Show on CBS Sports at Dolphin Stadium in South Florida on Sunday, February 7.

The Bridgestone Super Bowl halftime show is one of the most anticipated musical events of the year. More than 151 million viewers in the U.S. watched last year's show. The Super Bowl and halftime show will be broadcast worldwide in more than 230 countries and territories.

Many of the classic songs the band will perform are just a few of those included on Greatest Hits (Geffen/UMe), released December 22, 2009. The largest single-disc "best of" collection from The Who in more than ten years, it is the first to span the group's entire recording career to date, from 1964 to 2006. The 19-selection Greatest Hits brings together some of rock's most important, influential and incandescent touchstones, along with an essay by renowned music critic Dave Marsh.

The Who stands alone in rock music. The most explosive live act ever to appear on stage, propelled by the most staggeringly brilliant rhythm section in all popular music, layered with deafening power chords and thunderous vocal fury, The Who transcended its original billing as "Maximum R&B" to become the most musically inventive and structurally innovative band of all time. Together, the four divergent personalities of The Who produced a hurricane. Each of them was a pioneer. Wildman drummer Keith Moon beat his kit with a chaotic elegance; stoic bassist John Entwistle held down the center with the melodic virtuosity of a solo guitarist; raging intellectual Pete Townshend punctuated the epic universality of his songs with the windmill slamming of his fingers across his guitar strings; and Roger Daltrey roared above it all with an impossibly virile macho swagger. They exploded conventional rhythm and blues structures, challenged pop music conventions, and redefined what was possible on stage, in the recording studio, and on vinyl. Never before or since has spiritual and intellectual brilliance sounded so gloriously furious.

Alone among the great bands, The Who has found itself at the center of every major rock event-- Monterey, Woodstock, the Isle of Wight, the Concert for Kampuchea, Live Aid, the Concert for NYC. In any era, The Who is a touchstone for rock and roll greatness. They have sold over 100 million albums and won every award including Grammys/Brit Awards/Lifetime Achievement. They have been inducted into both the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and UK Music Hall of Fame. Their charitable work is legendary with millions of dollars raised over the years for a variety of causes. This work was recognized by the award of a CBE to Roger Daltrey in 2005.

In spite of the loss of Moon and Entwistle, The Who remains the standard-bearer for great live rock and roll and are still one of the most in demand live acts in the business Their music still forms the backdrop to 21st century life and is all over television in such shows as CSI as well as in many movies. The 21st century has sparked a resurgence in the creative collaboration between Townshend and Daltrey: In September 2006, the band released their first studio album Endless Wire since 1982's It's Hard, which preceded a 100 show world tour and the release of a Grammy-nominated career-spanning documentary DVD Amazing Journey.

2008 saw them return to the US for MTV's Rock Honors, and a further string of US dates; that year, they also completed their first ever arena tour of Japan. This was followed by the receipt of the prestigious Kennedy Center Award at The White House and the year was topped off by some incendiary shows at London's O2. In 2009, they completed a Tour of Australia and New Zealand. Townshend and Daltrey continue to look forward with energy and optimism and time will tell what the future has in store for this most remarkable of rock acts.
