Ramblings of a Loyal Cruehead!

By   Fri, Dec 19, 2008

When I was kid there was always music playing in my house or even at my grandmothers house. Mostly Classical and Rock N' Roll filled the air. My parents played a mixture of everything:Bob Dylan, The Beach Boys, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Elvis, The Commodores, Jefferson Starship, Billy Joel and the List Goes on and on. My grandmother played Violin in a group And if we begged enough she would play Orange Blossom Special. She introduced me to many Classical compositions that are too numerous to mention. I remember riding down the highway in my mothers 1979 Thunderbird Singing along with her to the radio or the dare I say 8-Track. It was not until the early Spring of 1986 Right after my mother passed away that I discovered my real true love in music. The neighborhood had gotten a new family and they were from Los Angeles. Talk was the girl wo lived there was different, She listened to satanic music. We met, and she was my age! She played Too Young to Fall In Love by Motley Crue and I was in Love! I quickly learned they were not Devil worshippers! Then The showed me the picture of the band and the tall skinny drummer named Tommy Lee Melted My heart and to be honest I have never lost that crush! I have never quit following them but it wasn't until recently (a year & 1/2 ago) that I actually had enough money to have internet and afford to be in the fan club. My kids love music too My 3 1/2 yr old recently threw a fit cause Saints of Los Angeles  was playing when I turned off the vehicile. I turned the key let the song finish & he was happy. I Kinda felt good that My kids were loving the same band that has gotten me through many years both good and bad. Now my kids are starting their own musical journey. but Ill speak of their favorite rockstars in future blogs!

This brought a tear to my eye! I mean my first instinct was to ask, "what the hell kind of mother shuts of SOLA to get out of a car"?!.. But then the seed of encouragement that you plant in your child by letting him finish listening to his song; letting him develop his own taste in music. What a cool mom. -Ryan
