Christmas is over......FINALLY!!
Don't get me wrong. I love Christmas, I really do. I just hate the stress and tension that tends to come along with it. NOT only do I have Christmas to think about it December, BUT my husband, my youngest son and my little brother all have birthdays this month...the latter two being yesterday and today and in that order. Throw in the band and Christmas program for the kids, 2 different parties for the company for which my husband works, class party for my youngest (I've decided to do Halloween next year!) plus all the cooking, baking, card sending and present wrapping that goes along with it.....well....I think you get my point. December is, I think, our 3rd busiest month after May and October.
It is tradition at our house on Chirstmas, that the kids can have their stockings as soon as they wake up and then we'll do presents once everyone is up and around...and Santa and Mrs Clause have had at least 1 cup of coffee. This year was a lot different. My mother had come over the Friday before to help get things ready at my grandmother's and was able to come to our house for Christmas morning to see the kids open their gifts from her. Ususally we get together w/ my brothers and do Christmas w/ her, but this year everyone's work schedules just didn't mesh. After going to bed around 11:30, getting up at 2:00 to take care of Santa's business I was amazingly up at just after 7 am. None of my kids were, which was weird, but a few minutes later there was knock at the door and come to find out my mom had been in the driveway for about 30 minutes or so. Well, we got everyone up and stockings opened and the kids dug into their gifts from Grandma......OK this is all leading up to the part of the story I'm REALLY trying to get to, but somtimes you just have to build it, you know......
My oldest son will be turning 16 in Feb. and getting his DL. He's had his eye on this 1990 Dodge Ram pickup that's black and chrome. Well, come Christmas morning, under the tree was this little white box that when he opened it contained a map drawn in crayon. I'm sure that you can guess where this is leading, but I'll let you see for yourself. For some reason the code isn't working, so here's the link if you want to go see the video.

It truly was an amazing morning. It made all the stress of the month worth going through to see his reaction to getting the pickup he really wanted. OH and the funny thing is, is that it was parked about 50 feet from the house for 3 days before Christmas and he had no clue. If he had looked out his bedroom window he would have been able to see it. But we know how awesome his powers of observation are, so we knew we'd get away with it.
I hope that your Christmas was wonderful and that you're new year is all you hope for. Back Off Girls...I'll see you at the mansion on New Year's Eve!!! *wink*
